Stop Refined Oil, Start Virgin Cold Pressed Oil

What to do?

Refined Oil is the most advertised product on Indian television after personal care products like soaps & shampoo. There are more than 15 different types of Oil available at retail shops across India. These are Olive, Groundnut, Sunflower, Mustard, Ricebran, Soyabean, Canola, Palm, Coconut, Sesame (Til), Flaxseed, Grapeseed, Walnut, Almond, Cashew, Avocado and lastly Ghee.

So which one is best?

Even though REFINED oil from any of these 15 types may be the most popular as it's highly advertised, it's the WORST option for you. Refined oil is most advertised because it's cheapest to produce, making it highly profitable for its manufacturers. If the oil bottle label carries the word REFINED, never buy any of it.

You may think refining oil makes it pure. Actually No! There was no concept of refining oil in Vedic times. The refining process doesn’t mean filtration after extraction.

In reality, refined oils are full of 10+ harmful chemicals, used during the refining process to increase the production during the extraction process resulting in higher profits. When these chemicals enter your body along with oil it acts like slow poisons in your body. And we’re consuming this poison three times a day in every meal.

Don’t look for the best but consume only PURE oils which mean virgin & cold-pressed oil, no chemicals added. In Hindi, it's called kachi ghani ka tel.

You may ask which PURE oil is most suitable for you. It depends on where you live.

  • Sesame or Til Tel can be consumed anywhere in India
  • Coconut oil is best suited for coastal regions that have high humidity e.g. north of India.
  • Mustard oil for regions with dry weather and low humidity e.g. north of India.

Why virgin cold-pressed oils?

You must be surprised to hear that virgin cold-pressed oil is essential, nutritious, and good for our health when consumed in moderation. After Lentils (Dal), Oil is the second-best source of protein but only if taken in pure form.

Two simple ways to tests if your oil is pure or not:

  • Strong smell
  • Stickiness

We may not like these two qualities of oil, but researchers say that these two are the most important qualities of oils.

Stickiness in oils is due to essential fatty acids in it, the most important nutrients needed in the human body.

This stickiness is also due to good fat present in the oil, it improves HDL or High-Density Lipoprotein, which protects us from heart diseases, joint pains, hormonal imbalances, stress, aging processes & what not.

The smell in oil is due to its protein content.

Now if we remove stickiness and smell by refining it, we are removing good fat & protein and replacing it with 13 deadly chemicals. Refined oil will no longer be the oil but a pure chemical.

The incidence of lifestyle disorders like diabetes, asthma, heart disease, brain clots, and PCOS has significantly increased especially in the 4-5 decades. Why? One of the main culprits is refined oil, it contains loads of bad cholesterol, LDL & triglycerides in combination with deadly chemicals.

Bad cholesterol or bad fat results in blockages in the heart, hypertension, hormonal imbalance in women, obesity, etc. Modern dieticians & doctors promote it out of sheer ignorance and vested interest.

Our parents and ancestors were using unrefined oils and even ghee much more liberally while preparing food, still, the incidence of lifestyle was unheard of. Because they consumed oil in pure form which gets easily digested.

Why is consuming oil important?

Vata Pitta & Kapha are three biological energies. When these energies function normally, it brings health. When they are out of balance, it results in illness.

70% of diseases in the world are Vata-related. Heart disease, blockages in the heart, hypertension, diabetes, paralysis, brain damage, all types of pain, and all Gynaecological disorders are Vata disorders.

Ayurveda says no gynecological disorder takes place without an imbalance of Vata energy.

Secret to keeping Vata energy balanced is consuming Pure oil in moderation. It acts as an internal lubricant. This prevents you from 70% of diseases in the world. The only rule is Oil has to be PURE. Pure means simple cold-pressed oil, no chemicals added.

Also, Remember

  • Even virgin cold-pressed oils need to be used in moderation
  • Properties of oil changes as per seeds
  • Ghee, defamed by the oil lobby, is still the age-old best. When consumed in moderation can support good health
